The club was founded by Ian Williams, former Olympian and ex-Senior National Sabre coach to the British women and men's teams.

Scimitar is one of the few fencing clubs in the UK that specializes solely in Sabre. We welcome all adult Sabreurs regardless of age or experience - members range from once a week social fencers to past and present National Champions (both male and female).

The club has two London venues; we meet on Tuesdays in Royal Oak and Thursdays in Tufnell Park (visitors are welcome at both sessions). On Tuesdays we also run a 6 week Beginners course.

At Scimitar the enjoyment of our members is of utmost importance, both on and off the piste. Part of our success has been due to the club's friendly atmosphere and active social side.

• Well done to Jo and Neil Hutchison who competed at the World Championships (held in Antalya (Turkey) from 30 September to 8 October). Jo managed a great result to finish 21st and Neil lost in the Last 64 to the eventual World Champion, in a closely fought fight.

• Cycling from Camden to Cardiff! On 1st-2nd September Ian Williams & Gildas Braine & Rob Partridge cycled from Camden to the UK School Games in Cardiff in an effort to raise funds to enable Camden Fencing Club's most talented kids to compete internationally this coming season.
